The GENESIS
We live in a time seemingly full of strife, conflict and division. While challenges exist, they also inspire us to come together, fostering unity among people, nations, and cultures. We believe in a brighter path, one where our capacity for love and care shines more brightly than our disagreements. Our ability to show compassion is stronger than any division, our differences are celebrated, becoming a source of strength that unites us all. Together, we create a world of collaboration and understanding.
18 individuals from different nations and cultures (Denmark, Australia, Peru, Canada, UK, Uruguay, Finland, Chile, Guatemala, Portugal, USA, Germany, Brazil, Ireland, France) have come together to form Copenhagen Collective, a brand new acrobatic collective in Copenhagen. Their first production - The Genesis - talks about how we all relate to each other and how we are intrinsically dependent on each other.
The stage is a blank canvas, where the artists themselves become the show. We follow the acrobats as they navigate an abstract emotional landscape, illustrating the transformative journey of human connection. Through their movements, we witness the gradual acceptance of our reliance on one another, the joy of collaboration, and the poignant realization that as individuals, we can only achieve so much alone.
The lighting design evokes a blend of a mystical cathedral and the vibrant energy of nightlife, enveloping and celebrating the performers in its warm embrace.
The Genesis features an original soundscape that combines classical violin, piano, and various acoustic instruments with voices in song and recitation. Elements of jazz and rhythm and blues are woven in, along with moments inspired by club music, creating an engaging atmosphere for the audience.
The show premiered on July 4th 2024 at Baltoppen LIVE in Copenhagen and has since continued to tour through Europe.
